Born in 1925 in Port Author, Texas, Robert is consid-ered a catalyst of the Pop Art movement who paved the way for Pop Artists to come. Before being drafted in the US Navy, he studied pharmacology . Later, he studied at The Kansas City Art Institute and the Academie Julian in Paris.
Robert was one of the primary collaborative artists to fuse 2D paintings with 3D sculpture and often included items found in dumpsters. He is known for exploiting mistakes, and those mistakes became art.
Accomplishments include winning the Grand Prize in painting in 1964 at the Venice Biennale.
